Throughout the duration of this two day camp, students will have opportunities to experience both the Shenango River and Sandy Creek Watersheds, engaging with various water resources located within them. Camp will emphasize the concept that “everyone lives downstream” and the importance of maintaining water quality by not only caring for water, but also the surrounding lands.

This year we will emphasize birds, their role in the environment, how they can be an indicator of habitat biodiversity and water quality. The camp organism we will highlight this year will be the great blue heron.

Transportation will be provided to Maurice K. Goddard State Park on the 2nd day of camp, July 17th.We will highlight stream monitoring, characteristics of a lakes versus streams, basic bird id, ecosystem and habitat studies.

New this year, students will get to participate in a kayak program on July 17th at dusk and bring along 1 adult family member to enjoy the experience with. You never know what birds you will see on the water!
