For more than 50 years, the Mercer County Conservation District has been providing conservation education to facilitate the thoughtful use of the natural resources we all share. Promoting clean streams, stable soils, healthy forests, enhanced wildlife habitat, alternative energy use, organic gardening, and sustainable agricultural production are all part of MCCD’s educational mission. Our staff collaborates with other groups to provide programs on Permitting, Regulatory Compliance, Alternative Energy, Riparian Enhancement, Woodlot Management, and Gardening for developers, engineers, contractors, municipalities, and landowners.
Since 2000, we have also offered agriculture and ecology education programs for students from Pre-K through college level at Munnell Run Farm, our 163-acre agriculture and ecology education center near Mercer, PA. All programs are outdoor oriented, hands-on, grade-level appropriate and specifically written to address the PA Academic Standards. Teacher workshops are also available periodically for Act 48 credit.
